POI Navigator

Support

Questions, bug reports, feature ideas or a route file that won't open: send it over and a real person will reply, usually within a couple of days.

Email support

Write to us, or use Send Feedback in the app's menu (the ☰ button at the top left), which opens a pre-addressed email.

It helps to include what you were doing, your device and iOS version, a screenshot if something looks wrong, and the GPX file if the problem is with one route. Files are only used to reproduce the problem.

Frequently asked questions

How do I open a GPX file?

Tap Open GPX File on the start screen or Load GPX File in the menu, share a file to POI Navigator from another app, or open it from the Files app. Files are read where they are; nothing is uploaded.

Where do the categories come from?

From the waypoints in your file. Each waypoint's comment or type (water, camping, food, lodging, bike shop and dozens more) becomes a category. Only categories in the file are listed, and anything unrecognised is filed as Generic. Choose which to show, and their order, with the gear button.

Why doesn't the distance match a straight line?

Distances are measured along the route, which is the distance you'll actually travel. If you're off the track, the distance back to the nearest point on it is added.

What are goals and anchor points?

Tap any POI and choose Set as Goal to see the distance, climb and an elevation profile to it at the top of the map. Anchor Point marks a stop, such as each night's camp. The Anchors table then shows the distance to the next anchor and between each one, so a long route breaks into daily legs. The finish is always an anchor.

What does the button at the bottom right do?

Each tap moves to the next view: your location, the whole route, you to your goal and the next stops, then follow mode, which keeps you centred and heading up as you move. Moving the map yourself switches it off until you tap again.

What is the simulation offer?

If you open a route more than 20 miles from where you are, POI Navigator offers to simulate travelling along it, so you can plan from home. Pick a speed in the bar at the top of the map, or end it from the bar or the menu. Your real position is used again as soon as it stops.

How do I keep my changes?

Choose Save Modified Copy from the menu. The copy keeps your goal and anchors, includes the places you added from Apple Maps, and leaves out the POIs you suppressed. Your original file is never changed. Advanced Export in the same menu saves just the POIs or just the track as a standard GPX file for other apps.

Does it work offline?

The route, POIs, distances and GPS all work without a connection. Maps come from Apple Maps, so areas you haven't viewed recently may be blank until you're back online or download offline maps that cover your route in the Apple Maps app to always have a map on hand.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later, and Macs with macOS 26 or later.

What does the app collect?

Nothing. There's no account, no analytics and no server of ours. See the privacy policy.
